FTSI Roll Flame Hardener

Roll Flame Hardener

This particular machine flame hardens the surface of shafts and rolls by using a lathe, which spins the product being flame hardened. Flame heads are mounted on the carriage of the lathe, and while the roll or shaft is spinning, the lathe carriage slowly moves down the shaft, heating the roll. Directly following the flame is the solution to quench the material. Temperature is maintained using an optical pyrometer. This process can harden specific areas of the roll or the roll in its entirety.
